Day 6

by Heather on June 7, 2008

Ran one final load of laundry (we are continuing to do cloth diapers so I have to wash them whenever I get a chance) before loading up the RV and heading into the town of Idyllwild to look at a couple of thrift store for some enamel dishes-of which we only found one. So currently we have two plates; one silver plate that Nadine was given as a gift when she was born and this new/old enamel blue plate with white polka dots.

We had lonch at the community center – take out burgers from the best little burgher stand in Idyllwild. This way Nadine could get to run around and play like a three year old and we could visit with J&S for a little longer before we headed on our way to Chandler, AZ.

While driving from Idyllwild to Chandler we averaged 21.5mpg! The sticker on the RV promised 20mpg on the freeway. We have an instrument called a Scan Gauge that monitors the mpg’s among other things. We are wholesalers for this instrument because we believe in the benefits of it for the driving community. Jonathan also does a good job monitoring the rpm’s – he said he tries to keep it at about 2,500rpm’s for the best mpg’s. Tire pressure is also monitored by a digital tire pressure gauge called an Accutire (bought at Costco) – after following the latest about how to maximize the mpg’s from our Prius we learned that tire pressure is very important! We arrived in Chandler by 7:45 and were greeted by The Mantini’s and a house full of guests! It was quite enjoyable to see them and to be greeted by so many others! They made us wonderful steaks for dinner! Nadine was very excited to see her friends Natalie and Bellamaria. Although Natalie was also excited to see Nadine, she really was loving seeing Samson! Nadine can’t wait to go swimming in their pool! I told her we can do it tomorrow.

Tonight we are sleeping in the RV for the first time in their driveway. We plugged into their house in hopes of running the AC, but we keep blowing their fuse, so we have given up and opened the windows. It doesn’t feel to terribly hot.

Both children are asleep and Jonathan went out with the guys.
